TWO-YEAR-OLD BOLSTERS EXCITES REPUTATION

PETER and Wendy Moran have already contributed one winner to the tally of their former star galloper Excites this season and feel sure that another isn’t far away.

The Moran’s familiar green and white colours flashed past the post in a recent Rosehill barrier trial aboard grey flash Bolster who led throughout to score the 900m heat.

Trained by four-times Golden Slipper winning trainer Clarry Conners, Bolster had finished second at Warwick Farm in his first trial.

”He’s gone back to the paddock because he’s a little bit shinny,” Peter Moran reported,”I spoke to Hugh Bowman after he rode him in the trail and he said he felt like he was feeling his shins and Clarry confirmed that the next day, so we decided to put him back out for six weeks and then get him back again.

”Clarry and Hugh both said he is a nice horse – he could be six months away but that could just be the shin soreness.”

It is believed that Bolster has attracted interest from overseas after his recent sterling trial efforts.

Excites’ prominent position on the First Season Sires’ rankings is a particular source of pride for the Moran’s who raced and bred the son of their beloved broodmare Staging.

”Excites has only needed 11 runners to get his five winners but in my opinion they are going to be better three-year-olds, that’s why I am not pushing Bolster,” Moran says.
”The research I have done and with my own lot that I have, they are all three-year-olds and will be much better next time around.
”The horses going back into work will really start to show up from here on.”
