PRICE AIMS FOR TREBLE WITH DUBLEANNY

TRAINER Mick Price’s chances of claiming a third Group 1 SAJC Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) rest with the talented mare Dubleanny who has arrived in Adelaide ready to rise above her biggest challenge yet.

The daughter of Vinery resident Dubleo is taking on a selection of Australia’s best fillies and mares including Group 1 winner Response and Darey mare Beaded who chased home Black Caviar last start.

”This is a tough, smart fillies and mares race with many chances including Avenue, Beaded, Response, Vareena Miss and Panipique,” Price said.

”Dubleanny has drawn well in gate 2 of 13 and the distance looks ideal. She has good second-up form and the 1200m suits her here. Craig Newitt rides her well and will be sure to give her the ride she needs.”

Dubleanny resumed with an easy win in the $101,000 VRC Mrs Mac’s Beef Pie Sprint (1100m) at Flemington on March 5 and has done well since, says Price.

”She is fit, sound, well and in good order leading into this event.

”We were using her Flemington run as readiness for this Group 1 event. The horse than ran fourth behind her first-up, Psychologist, has since won at Caulfield so the form has held up.

”In what looks a tough race and with luck with in running, it would be great to see her finish in the first three.”

Dubleanny is part-owned by Vinery Stud whose familiar green and white colours were worn to victory in the 2009 SAJC Robert Sangster Stakes by Bel Mer.

Price’s first of three Sangster Stakes winners came in 2004 with French Bid.
