ONEMORE QUALITY 2YO CROP FOR RED RANSOM

VINERY Stud foundation sire Red Ransom remains a force in racing around the world as the two-year anniversary of his untimely passing approaches.

Red Ransom’s last remaining progeny will be offered at major yearling sales in 2012 and with a maximum number of 41 from his final crop, they are bound to be highly sought after.

Meanwhile, one of his two-year-olds, Temora Girl, shapes well for a debut win at Rosehill on Saturday after a sterling barrier trial in the lead-up.

The David Payne-trained filly was doing her best work, narrowing the gap between herself and heat winner My Shabella who was highly fancied to take out last Saturday’s Gimcrack Stakes but was scratched at the barrier.

”Red Ransom has sired over 100 stakeswinners but strangely only ever left just one Group 1 winning 2YO which happens to be Vinery stallion Onemorenomore,” says the Stud’s Conor Phelan.

”I think that fact runs contrary to his ability to sire quality juveniles and in Temora Girl case, her dam won the Sweet Embrace Stakes so there is speed and precocity on both sides of the pedigree.”

Temora Girl was bred by owner/breeder Richard Pegum whose stable includes the likes of My Kingdom Of Fife and current Caulfield and Melbourne Cup favourite December Draw.
