MOSSMAN DUO IN NEAR GROUP 1 MISS

IT TOOK a herculean effort from reigning Doncaster winner Rangirangdoo to deny Mossman duo Love Conquers All and Triple Elegance a rare quinella in yesterday’s Group 1 George Ryder Stakes.

Rangirangdoo’s win was a personal triumph for leading trainer Chris Waller who was able to coax another Group 1 win out his star galloper despite the horse being sidelined for almost a year after suffering a serious injury.

While it is unlikely that ‘Rangi’ will defend his Doncaster title, Waller will be ably represented by up and coming galloper Triple Elegance in the $2.2 million feature.

”He drops down from 59kgs to 51kgs in the Doncaster which will be a great help against the likes of More Joyous,” Vinery’s Conor Phelan said.
”Yesterday was the horses’ first attempt at a Group 1 and his first attempt at weight for age so to finish as close as he did in third after racing a bit keenly was a seriously good effort.”

The same can be said for runner-up Love Conquers All who went down a half head after leading for all but the last stride.
”He hadn’t been past 1400m before so, again, to do that at this level is a supreme testament to his class,” says Phelan.
