CONGRATS FILLY FLYING HIGH

CONGRATS‘ Grade 1 Santa Anita Oaks winning daughter Turbulent Descent is likely to bypass next month’s Kentucky Oaks despite her emphatic 5-lens win in the Grade 2 Beaumont Stakes last weekend.

While the filly has twice won Grade I events around two turns trainer Mike Puype feels Turbulent Descent is better suited to sprinting.

”We’re going to try to win the Eclipse (Award) with her this year,” Puype told www. bloodhorse.com

”You don’t have to go a mile and an eighth to get the Eclipse. She’s an awfully good filly, and she’s going to put up a resume this year that I think is going to be worthy of that kind of award.

”The game needs horses like her to bring people out and see races. We’re happy to have her. I’m appreciative of the owners and everyone who’s given me the opportunity.”

Though she may not be there on Oaks day, Turbulent Descent will have her chance at more Grade One glory targeting the Acorn Stakes on June 11 at Belmont Park and the Test at Saratoga on August 6.

Turbulent Descent is a valued member of Congrats’ first crop whose collective success catapulted him to Champion First Season Sire honours in the USA in 2010.

”It is fantastic to see that Congrat’s two-year-olds are training on already, Congrats won stakes races as a 5yo and his progeny will remain high quality horses” says Vinery Australia’s Adam White.

”Clearly, Turbulent Descent is clearly a high class Grade 1 filly and is the 2nd Stakes winner from his first crop that has now won a stakes race at three.”

Congrats will join the Vinery roster in 2011 at a fee of $22,000 (inc GST).
