‘RED’ SENDS ANOTHER CUP BRIAN’S WAY

AFTER 41 starts most horses are assumed to be in the twilight of their career, not so Mick Kent’s Red Ransom six-year-old Red Buttons who took out the $90,000 Kyneton Cup yesterday.

The Red Ransom gelding is racing in rare form at present stringing together three consecutive wins including the Moe and Kyneton Cups.

Owned and bred by former Wakefield Stud master Brian Agnew, Red Buttons has earned over $420,000 across his 9 wins and 15 minor placings.

Given his exemplary form, could Red Buttons be the horse to give Red Ransom his 100th individual stakeswinner?

”Wouldn’t that be good,” Vinery’s Conor Phelan said.

”Brian is a very well known figure in breeding particularly here in the Hunter, I think it would be great if his horse could win a stakes race and become Red Ransom’s 100th individual stakeswinner.”

Red Ransom has sired 99 individual Stakes Winners world wide and is set to join an elite group of stallion in the 100 club shortly.

Moreover, Red Ransom is proving to be a popular source of sires with Champion First Season Sire, Charge Forward and the emerging Domesday who sired Backgammon and Domesky to quinella the Listed Myer Fashion Stakes on Oaks Day.
