DUBLEO’S DOUBLE ACT

DUBLEO fans were split down the middle on Wyong Cup Day when it came to the Turfcare NSW Handicap (1100m) with two of his progeny vying for favouritism.

As it turned out, those wise to Dubleo proficiency who decided to pair Dublette and Double Five in a quinella were handsomely rewarded with a $9 dividend.

“A lot of the Dubleo’s are essentially the same stage so it’s not unusual that some of them might bump into each other while they progress through the grades,” Vinery’s Conor Phelan said.

“Dubleo is porducing such consistency with his runners that we expect them all to run well.  Hopefully in this situation when they both can’t win – unless they dead-heat – they run one-two.”

An emerging sire, Dubleo’s ability to produce winners has seen his book grow to over 100 mares this season following the success of his first crop runners headed by Stakes winning filly, Dubleanny.  The last horse to beat promising galloper Doubtful Jack, Dubleanny returns to racing this Spring for Mick Price with more black type in her sights.
