DELLBLU BRINGS UP WEEKEND DOUBLE

Dubleo three-year-old Dellblu came from well off the pace to score his first win in today’s Rubicon Maiden Plate (1800m) at the Sunshine Coast.  The win came hot on the heels of another first crop Dubleo winner, Dublette when odds-on at Kembla Grange yesterday.

Dellblu has been steadily building towards a win since he returned with a barnstorming third over 1400m around the tight Gold Coast circuit where he was spotting the leaders an impossible start.

The Helen Page trained gelding put the writing on the wall with another fast-finishing second, beaten a long neck, in a 1666m at Ipswich.
Dellblu clearly appreciated the more spacious surrounds of the Sunshine Coast track, charging home over the top of his rivals to win in class record time.

Dellblu is one of 22 first crop winners sired by Dubleo, a winner over 1000m in the USA by 8-lens who was able to stretch his speed to 1700m.
He also won the G2 Summer Stakes at Woodbine over a mile.
Dellblu’s follows impressive victories by Dubleo gallopers Dubleanny, the undefeated Skateboard and yesterday’s Kembla Grange winner Dublette.

It was Dublette’s second win and caps a remarkable run for the first crop filly which has won or placed in 8 of her 11 starts.  The Alan Denham trained filly started a well backed favourite yesterday following five consecutive Metropolitian placings last preparation before she broke her maiden at Wyong and earning a well deserved spell.  First up yesterday the filly signalled there were better things in store this preparation as she took her burgeoning prizemoney earnings to almost $50,000.
