BREEDERS CUP WIN FOR MORE THAN READY

MORE Than Ready’s undisputed reputation as one of the world’s best sires of champion two-year-olds was confirmed in the wake of More Than Real’s comprehensive win in this morning’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (1600m Turf) at Churchill Downs in Kentucky.

More Than Real tracked the speed throughout before making a decisive move on the bend setting up what turned out to be an unassailable lead as she powered away to win the feature by a comfortable 2 lengths.

The filly is prepared by Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher who steered her sire More Than Ready throughout his illustrious track career and who saddles up the More Than Ready colt Pluck in the colts dividsion of the BC Juvenile tomorrow.
More Than Real’s cross is easily replicated in Australia given that she is out of a stakeswinning Dehere mare.

“More Than Real was only having her third start today but was peaking going into the race,” Vinery’s Conor Phelan said.
“She won her debut then finished second in a G3 at Woodbine. In saying that, she had an awkward draw and was up against some more experienced fillies that day but she was obviously at the top of her game for this race.”

More Than Real is the 77th stakeswinner sired by More Than Ready and one of more than 700 individual winners in 32 countries around the globe.
Whilst it is generally accepted that More Than Ready has had a bigger impact on Australian turf than on US tracks, two Golden Slipper and Magic Millions winners is testament to that, but to deliver a G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner is a major achievement.

More so, if More Than Ready is able to add the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Colts (1600m) tomorrow morning (AEST) where he is represented by another well credentialed Todd Pletcher entrant, Pluck.
“Pluck is among the Top Ten 2YO earners in North America at present and like the filly, More Than Real, he arrives at Churchill Downs after competing at Woodbine last start.
“More Than Real was placed, whereas he won his G3 lead up so expectations are high.”
More Than Ready is the only stallion with runners in both divisions of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile this year in what may become a rare double. More Than Real is More Than Ready’s first BC victory, the previous best being a narrow second last year by Ready’s Echo in the Breeder’s Cup Dirt Mile G1.
