A HAPPY COMBINATION

VINERY Stud sires Mossman and Testa Rossa combined to give the former his 12th individual two-year-old winner for the season when Kiwi galloper Happy Man won on debut at Rororua today.

The Tony Pike trained gelding had little trouble overcoming his wide draw surging ahead to win the 1200m maiden comfortably by a length.

Happy Man’s dam, Eutrophy, is a daughter of six-times Group One winner Testa Rossa and a member of the prolific ‘Draw’ clan whose notables include Mnemosyne, Draw Card, Drawn and Golden Slipper winner, Full On Aces.  Happy Man was bought for NZ$38,000 as a weanling at the 2008 New Zealand Bloodstock Weanling, Broodmare and Mixed sale.

Mossman has made his presence felt across the Tasman in the juvenile category previously via Sir Patrick Hogan’s smart colt Hoofit who finished runner-up in the Listed Champagne Stakes and fourth in the Group One Manawatu Sires Produce Stakes.
