73 STAKES WINNERS FOR MORE THAN READY

Following recent Stakes success in Australia with More Strawberries and More Joyous, More Than Ready’s ever growing tally of individual Stakes winners has leapt to 73 after a Stakes double in the States in recent days.

Having only his second race start, promising 2YO colt Major Gain came from near last to claim $100,000 Arlington-Washington Futurity (Gr.3 1600m) at the famed Arlington track in Illinois.
Major Gain ran second on debut behind Caleb’s Posse but had little trouble turning the tables on that horse when running out an impressive winner this time around.
“More Than Ready’s number of Stakes winners has risen dramatically in the past few seasons, not only here but also in the States,” Vinery’s Conor Phelan said.
“I think we can put it down to his adaptability – it doesn’t matter if it’s on turf or dirt, fast or heavy going, sprints or staying races, the More Than Ready’s always acquit themselves very well.”

Meanwhile on the same day, consistent 5yo mare Fascinatin’ Rhythm elevated herself to dual black-type winner after victory in the Geisha Stakes (1600m) at Laurel Park in Maryland.  Fascinatin’ Rhythm has now won her last two starts at Stakes level following five previous placings in Grade and Listed company and is career best form.

More Than Ready has served full books in the last two season’s in Australia despite demand increasing his service fee from 2007’s fee of $40,000 to $110,000 in 2008 and $148,500 last year.

“More Than Ready has always sold well for our clients with great results from his then service fee.  The success of his progeny on the track from these early books has been phenomenal.  However, the quality of mare visiting More Than Ready in recent season’s would indicate that perhaps the best of More Than Ready is yet to be seen through the sales ring or on the track.”
