MYBOYCHARLIE TOPS SESSION

A BAY filly by former champion 2YO Myboycharlie topped day two of the Magic Millions Perth Yearling sale currently underway in Western Australia.

The daughter of former handy Blackfriars mare, Who Rang (6 wins), sold to Malaysian buyer Wayne Lim Woei Chet for $75,000.

Also on day two, a bay colt by Myboycharlie out of Catbird mare So Nice was knocked down to prominent local trainer, Dan Morton, for $55,000.
Earlier in the week, two Myboycharlie’s changed hands during the premier session for $65,000 and $57,500 respectively to Alvin Tan (Singapore) and local trainer Trevor Andrews respectively.

“These numbers are very good again and follow on from a couple of similar results at Karaka in New Zealand,” says Vinery’s Conor Phelan.
“Myboycharlie is by the Danehill son Danetime who is very well known over in WA. He stood there for four seasons from 2001 to 2005 before he passed away at an early age (11) and sired the Group 1 winner, Megatic, from his short time at stud in Australia.”
Myboycharlie has sired 122 winners in this country from only 159 starters (76.2 percent winners to runners) with 10 individual stakeswinners.

“We are thrilled with the way buyers are responding to his first progeny, we were confident that he had the horses that would appeal but our expectations were exceeded at the Gold Coast and the momentum has carried over into these other sales. It is a tremendous endorsement of the stallion and what he throws,” Phelan commented.

As well as these high returns for vendors, Phelan says the fact that Myboycharlie’s progeny will race ”far and wide” will potentially open new markets for the stallion in the years ahead.
“Not only are his yearlings headed for the top stop stables in Australia, but if he can get a few nice horses over in Asia and also in New Zealand, it will be a huge marketing advantage for vendors in the future,” he added.
