MOSSMAN mare Ofcourseican will need to overcome the might and power of champion mare More Joyous in tomorrow’s Queen of the Turf Stakes (1500m) if she is to claim successive Group 1 wins.

The Ron Quinton trained galloper was rewarded with her first major victory when charging down the centre of the Rosehill track to take out the Coolmore Classic on March 24.

“More Joyous is a giant obstacle for Ofcourseican and the others but she is racing in career best form having won the Liverpool City Cup and Coolmore at her past two,” Vinery’s Adam White said.

“The prospect of a firm track also helps her, five of her wins have been on good tracks, in fact she has only missed  a place once on a good track so it’s not impossible for her, but More Joyous is More Joyous!.”

Later in the day, Team Hawkes trained 5YO Love Conquers All lines-up in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1050m) after chasing More Joyous home last start.

“Last year he finished 2.3-lens behind More Joyous then came out and was only 0.2-lens second in the Ryder,” White noted.

“This year he was 1.8-lens closer to More Joyous in the Canterbury Stakes so hopefully he can go one better and win the Ryder because he really deserves a Group 1 win having placed several times”
