MORE THAN READY AMONG GREATS

More Than Ready qualified a fourth candidate for the 2017 Breeders’ Cup Championships and joined one of the all-time great sires when his filly Rushing Fall won the Jessamine Stakes-Gr.3 at Keeneland on Wednesday.

Chad Brown’s youngster earned an all-fees paid berth to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Del Mar on November 3.  She was racing for just the second time after an eye-catching maiden victory at Belmont on September 16.

Rushing Fall is the 177th stakes winner by More Than Ready putting him on equal terms with Overbrook Farm legend Storm Cat.  And he’s only one shy of breed-shaper Mr Prospector.

More Than Ready sprinter Roy H earned an automatic entry into the Breeders’ Cup Sprint-Gr.1 following his victory in the Santa Anita Sprint Championship-Gr.1 last Saturday.  The Vinery champion also has Saratoga stakes winners Catholic Boy and Copper Bullet heading to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Del Mar.

Rushing Fall was given time to settle by Javier Castellano before rounding up her rivals to score by three lengths on turf.   “That was extremely impressive but I’m not surprised,” Brown said at Keeneland.  “She identified herself as special the first time we breezed her and we are lucky to have her.”

Castellano said he knew Rushing Fall was capable of a come-from-behind victory over 1700m.  “That’s the impression she gave me the first time we ran her.  I let her fall out because I wanted her to feel comfortable.  Turning for home, she gave me another gear and really came through.”

Rushing Fall was purchased by Five Racing Thoroughbreds with a successful $320,000 bid at the 2016 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling sale.  Her dam Autumnal (Forestry) is from the family of Group 1 multi-millionaire Albert the Great and she has also foaled Pica Slew Stakes-LR winner Miram (Street Sense).

More Than Ready is currently serving his 17th southern-book at Vinery for a $66,000 (inc gst) service fee.
