MALASUN ANOTHER PREMIER VINERY GRADUATE

MALASUN’S dominant win in today’s Blue Diamond Fillies Prelude at Caulfield is both a sad and timely reminder of the absence of Vinery Stud foundation sire, Red Ransom.

“It was great to see the filly win for Mick (Price) and the BC3 team but it just reminds everyone that this crop of yearlings going through the sales are his last ones and after that, there won’t be any more,” Vinery’s Adam White said.

“Red Ransom was a tremendously important horse for Vinery, he was our foundation sire here and I think he helped prove the worth of the outcross. You only have to look at how many studmasters want his sons so they can keep injecting his blood into the mare population. I think there is something like 12 or 13 Red Ransom’s at stud in Australia alone this season including Onemorenmore who is currently the stallion’s only Group 1 winning 2YO – perhaps Malasun might challange this status” said White.

Malasun was delivered from the former handy racemare and Encosta De Lago daughter, Malapert, whose previously foals include the Group 2 winner, Stokehouse, who won up to 2020m.

The filly became Red Ransom’s 104th individual Stakes winner was sold out of Vinery Stud’s 2011 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale draft in Melbourne for $80,000.
