George Altomonte is a staunch More Than Ready supporter and was rewarded once again when his homebred mare Anatola won the Silk Stocking Stakes LR at the Gold Coast.

Anatola has gone to another level since resuming from a spell last month.  She broke the Randwick 1200m track-record first-up and overcame a wide gate with another front-running victory on Saturday.

The Mark Newnham-trained speed-machine is the 185th stakes winner by More Than Ready.  She can claim another Group 1 for the Vinery legend and Altomonte in the Tatt’s Tiara (1350m) at Doomben on June 23.

Altomonte bred More Than Ready’s 2008 Golden Slipper Stakes Gr.1 winner Sebring at Corumbene Stud in the Upper Hunter Valley.

“It’s really satisfying to win this race for George,” Newnham said.  “He has been a loyal supporter since I started training.  Once this mare got to the lead and pricked her ears, I knew she would find another gear in the straight.”

Anatola is the final foal of Flying Spur mare Wager (Flying Spur).  She won a Stan Fox Stakes Gr.2 and Sir Byrne Hart Stakes Gr.2 in Corumbene’s colours when Newnham was stable foreman for Gai Waterhouse.

Runner-up Test The World filled out a Silk Stocking quinella for Vinery.  She is a daughter of Testa Rossa who also sired Robert Sangster Stakes Gr.1 placegetter Mica Lil on Saturday.

More Than Ready has two colts and a filly entered for the Magic Millions National yearling sale starting on June 5.  The filly from Longlea (Lot 1904) has been catalogued by Corumbene and is a half-sister to the recent Waterhouse-trained Canterbury winner Maid Marilyn.

Vinery stands More Than Ready for a $66,000 (inc gst) service fee.
