John Sargent reckons All Too Sweet shouldn’t be winning this early in his career but he wasn’t surprised when the 2yo gelding beat older horses at his second start on Tuesday.

After sitting outside the leader at Hawkesbury, All Too Sweet sprinted clear in the straight and then held off the closers in the Nor-West Jets Hcp (1300m).  The son of Vinery freshman All Too Hard was racing second-up after an unplaced debut at Randwick on Anzac Day.

“He’s a long strider and didn’t appreciate the soft ground that day,” Sargent explained.  “He’s already over 16 hands and will keep furnishing.  He should put on another 60kg by the time he comes back after a winter spell.”

All Too Sweet (2g All Too Hard – Rightly So by Read The Footnotes) cost $320,000 at the 2016 Gold Coast Magic Millions yearling sale and was purchased from the Vinery draft by George Moore Bloodstock on behalf of Hong Kong owner Mr Lee.

He’s the first foal of a USA mare who won the 2010 Ballerina Stakes-Gr.1 by four lengths at Saratoga.  Her final foal is a yearling colt by All Too Hard that made $270,000 to the bid of Domeland at this year’s Magic Millions.

All Too Sweet is a typical All Too Hard.   “He’s got a touch of brilliance but is still another prep away,” Sargent predicted.  “Hopefully, I can keep him long enough to win some nice 3yo staying races before he eventually heads up to Hong Kong.  And I will be buying more by All Too Hard next year”

All Too Hard is an emerging force among first-season sires with winners like The Mighty Fed and Allied Power in the last fortnight.  He stands at Vinery for a $44,000 (inc gst) service fee.
